COVID-19 Journey
Hi fellas,
I am Narendran J,handling foods for Gremah, west branch.I wanted to share my personal experience after I tested positive for COVID-19 recently and came out of it with good health. As many of us are cautious about this virus and its spread,I hope that sharing my experience will be helpful for you.
I stay at Wadala,Mumbai which is a containment zone.I did not step out of my accommodation for the last 15 days even to the local shop, however the news was that two security guards in my accommodation tested positive. To my knowledge I wasn’t in touch with them ,however I contracted the virus. It all started with a fever & headache on day zero, typical viral fever symptoms with body ache. The only medication I took was one paracetamol for the whole day and started observing myself for other symptoms. The next day fever subsidized while headache continued with little body ache and I did not take any medicines after my initial dose of paracetamol.
On day 3 morning fever disappeared completely but I continued to experience body pain and head ache. This is when I decided to call the doctor.I first spoke to my personal physician and then to HUL doctor. Both of them advised me to take the test as I was staying in the containment zone and could have possibly come in contact with positive cases and with the ‘viral fever like’ symptoms not completely disappearing on the 3rd day.HUL doctors wrote a prescription to undertake COVID-19 test, which is mandatory to get oneself tested for COVID-19 in a private lab in Maharashtra.Soon I updated my Arogya Seth app, contacted the private lab to arrange a visit to my accommodation for testing after filling the necessary details with Govt ID and a prescription from a registered physician,in my case the HUL doctor. The test was scheduled on Day-5 as the availability of home testing is limited to particular number of slots per day. While I was making efforts to get myself tested, the symptoms completely disappeared from day 4&5 and that too without any medication.
My test results came positive on Day -8 morning and I got a call from BMC enquiring about my health details and the address details to take me to isolation centre. By this time I was completely out of all symptoms.I immediately called my bosses, who spoke to HUL doctors and HUL doctors immediately secured me a bed in Hiranandhini hospital in Powai. Private ambulances worked better here as the hospital ambulances were stressed at that point of time with availability.I got admitted and was monitored by doctors from Day -9 to Day 15 ,all the necessary blood reports,x-rays and others related tests were stable throughout the period with few multivitamin tablets prescribed.I was discharged on Day 15 from the hospital and was advised to be in home quarantine for the next 14 days for greater good and I am right now looking completely healthy and back at my accommodation in Wadala.
A big Thank you to HUL! right from Day 1 to Day 15, my bosses(Vaibhav,Mukesh,Tan and Sanjiv ) and doctors kept on checking my health and well-being every day during my hospitalization. Felt really comfortable with the support HUL has given being away from my hometown.
In this whole exercise,I learnt that the virus spread is unknown, however one need not panic. If he/she develops symptoms, isolate yourself immediately from rest of the people and get in touch with family physician/HUL doctors (Dharmesh/Karekar) who have the best advises and the way forward.During my stay in hospital at the isolation ward i have seen people with comorbidity getting admission and they are all doing well with proper treatment. Incase you have any queries, feel free to reach out to me.
Stay healthy and stay safe.
Thanks
Naren
